Product Description

YMT 2738

Introducing Plastic Mold Steel YMT 2738, the trailblazing pre-hardened alloy steel designed specifically for molds. This innovative steel boasts exceptional through-hardening capabilities, superior machinability, and outstanding polishability, making it a top choice for demanding applications.
YMT 2738 has been meticulously engineered for large-dimension molds, ensuring a remarkable degree of through-hardening throughout the
entire section.

Main Features :
• excellent machinability;
• very good suitability for photo-engraving;
• very good suitability for polishing;
• excellent suitability for nitriding, in order to increase the wear resistance;
• good wear resistance in the whole section of the mold;
• internal homogeneous hardness on blocks in the whole section of the mold;

Application
Suitable for large-dimension, plastic injection molds requiring uniform hardness, strength and toughness, take for instance:
  • -Molds for auto bumpers, dashboards and other interior and exterior parts in auto industry,
  • -Cases and frames for plastic molds of home appliances, such as TV, washing machines and AC, etc.
  • -Cases for plastic molds of office supplies, e.g. printers, copy machines, paper shredder, trash-bins
  • -Mold base for die casting

Annealing: Heat to 710-740(OC), cool slowly. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 235.
Stress Relieving: Heating to 650(OC),holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling.
Quenching: Harden from a temperature of 840-880(OC), followed by oil, air or warm bath 180-220(OC) quenching. Hardness after quenching is 52 HRC.
